As much as we love our summer hikes and backpacking trips, our love for winter adventure is just as great. Whether it is ice climbing, snowshoeing, skiing, or snowmobiling we love it all. Below, we have compiled our top destinations in the US for winter adventure. So the next time you need to get away for some time in the snow, mark these down on your travel list.

Ice Climbing

Ouray, Colorado

It is no surprise that the top destination for ice climbing would be nestled in the Rockies. This once small miner town becomes a hot spot for adventurers in the winter. Their famous Ice Park has 14 different climbing areas and 3 miles of vertical terrain. After your day on the ice, we suggest taking a soak in one Ouray's hot springs.

Snowboarding/Skiing

Mammoth Mountain, California

Located on the east side of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, Mammoth Mountain boasts some of the best skiing and snowboarding terrains in the country. Mammoth offers something for everyone at any skill level. With over 3,500 acres of skiable terrain, there is definitely room for everyone.

Snowmobiling

West Yellowstone, Montana

What is a better way to explore the beauty of one of our natural treasures, than on a snowmobile?! Guided tours in the park are available, but we suggest the 400 miles of trails available in West Yellowstone. With Montana's long winters, there is plenty of time to book your trip!

Located in Northern Vermont, you will find a small alpine village called Bolton Valley. It sits on over 5,000 acres of pristine mountain terrain perfect for several mountain sports. It is great for those who prefer cross-country skiing as it has an amazing backcountry with over 65 miles of trails.
